Cohen & Grigsby Attorney Alice Mitinger Appointed Chair of the City of Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment

PITTSBURGH, May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cohen & Grigsby is pleased to announce that Mayor Bill Peduto has nominated, and City Council confirmed, attorney Alice Mitinger to serve as Chair of the City of Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment. The Board of Adjustment is a three-member panel, which meets weekly to adjudicate applications pursuant to the Pittsburgh Zoning Code. Mitinger previously served as a board member from 2005-2009, and was involved in a number of significant decisions involving developments throughout the City.

Mitinger has significant experience in zoning and land use litigation and development and with appellate, administrative, and election law issues. She has appeared before municipal governing bodies and zoning hearing boards throughout Western Pennsylvania. Her appellate practice has included cases before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Pennsylvania Supreme, Superior, and Commonwealth Courts, with a particular focus on matters within the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth Court. She represents a wide variety of clients, including wireless telecommunications providers, landfill companies, real estate developers, and the Commonwealth's Department of Community and Economic Development.
