Codeverse, The World's First Fully Interactive Coding Studio for Kids, Expands Nationally; Launches Pop-Up Summer Camps in 2019
Former Belly CEO Dan Gloede Joins Team as President and CFO, Helping Support National Expansion Efforts and Long-term Growth Initiatives
CHICAGO, Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Announced today, Codeverse, the world's most immersive coding studio for children ages 6 to 13, will be bringing its interactive summer camp experience to additional cities across the United States. With this, Ex-Belly CEO Dan Gloede will join the team as President and CFO, to help guide this unprecedented expansion effort as the company continues to work towards its mission of teaching a billion kids to code.
Codeverse opened its flagship location in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood in 2017. The brand opened two new locations to follow, bringing their interactive classroom experience and proprietary kid-friendly coding language, KidScript, to children across the city and suburbs. The state-of-the-art studios have garnered much excitement and support from the community since opening their doors.
"We've created great momentum from our current studios and now want to bring the same opportunities to markets outside of Chicago," said Katy Lynch, CMO. "We feel it's vital for children everywhere to learn the critical skill of coding at a young age and this expansion is just the next step in our mission of teaching a billion kids to code."
With their success, it became obvious it was time to scale beyond Chicago, and with that tapped Gloede, a proven leader in the tech community, to lead growth in additional markets, with temporary studios set to open in June 2019. "Dan brings incredible experience from his time at Belly," said Craig Ulliott, CEO. "He has always been an exemplary leader, and I'm thrilled to be working with him again."
The expansion initiative will bring weeklong pop-up camps to major cities across the United States, teaching children the fundamentals of computer coding using the brand's proprietary kid-friendly coding language, KidScript. During the pop-up camps, aptly named "Coding FUNdamentals", kids will learn how to code, design video games, build robots, and program cutting-edge gadgets such as concert-hall lights.
The pop-up camps will kick off in June and run through August, launching in the following cities:
- Indianapolis, IN
- Kansas City, MO
- Atlanta, GA
- Columbus, OH
- Dallas, TX
These expansion efforts quickly follow a substantial Seed Round of $10M secured in late July of last year to support new market growth, hiring and advancements in their KidScript platform.
For Gloede, the opportunity to join this fast-growing organization, was a no-brainer as he's helped spur considerable growth efforts for past organizations. Beyond his impressive resume, he understands the positive impact Codeverse can bring to a child's learning and development.
"As a parent, I immediately recognized the value of Codeverse, as it provides critical thinking, design, discovery and teamwork skills through an incredible curriculum and studio environment," said Dan Gloede. "We all hope that we can join a company providing a project of service that aligns directly to our values and belief system, all while working alongside a uniquely talented and mission-oriented team. I am humbled to have the found this with Codeverse and excited to be part of it."
