CodeLathe Addresses Challenges of Enterprise File Sharing with Sweeping Enhancements to Tonido FileCloud
Latest Version of On-Premise Private Cloud for Enterprises Offers Public and Private Sharing, Antivirus Integration, New Dashboard and More
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- CodeLathe, the leader in personal cloud products and services, today released the latest version of Tonido FileCloud, an on-premises enterprise file sharing and mobile access solution. The latest version of the enterprise private cloud solution offers new file sharing, security and administrative features to enable complete and seamless integration with enterprise IT systems.
Tonido FileCloud is the first self-hosted enterprise file sharing and sync product that lives strictly within an organization's four walls. Unlike enterprise public cloud services, which require storage and data exchange on public servers, Tonido FileCloud offers organizations complete ownership of their infrastructure and data while providing the convenience of web-based and mobile access.
"Our latest FileCloud release addresses pretty much all the pain points of enterprise file sharing including control, security and branding," said Madhan Kanagavel, CEO of CodeLathe. "Now, enterprises can have a branded, on-premises file sharing and sync solution without sacrificing ownership and security at a fifth of the cost of market alternatives."
FileCloud 3.0 offers a stunning array of new features in three key categories:
File Sharing: Users can now share files with external partners via the web and mobile devices. External partners who are not users can also upload files to FileCloud. Users can also re-share files and folders, share with groups and download a whole directory or multiple files as a compressed zip file.
Security: Mixed mode authentication now allows admins to add users who are not part of their organization's Active Directory. Furthermore, integration with ClamAV, an open source antivirus engine, now detects and prevents viruses from being uploaded into FileCloud. The system's enhanced dashboard also offers additional system statistics including log folder size, groups, network shares and user shares. Deleted files and folders can now be restored with FileCloud's new recycle bin support.
Administration: Admins can integrate FileCloud groups with existing Active Directory groups and existing user home directories via CIFS using the new Smart Mount feature. The new update also provides simple REST APIs to allow easy provisioning of user accounts. Finally, FileCloud now provides a one-click button for updates, access to shared files using WebDAV protocol and multi-tenancy support, which allows the admin to run multiple instances of FileCloud on the same Apache server.
"We chose FileCloud because it allowed us to ensure that all data is kept secure within the corporate network as well as backed up," said Dean Mather, IT Manager of Call Design, a consulting firm that specializes in workforce optimization. "Ultimately, we have total control over out information. The ease of installation and use, as well as the generous price point and helpful support made FileCloud hard to beat."
The chosen cloud solution of NASA, the YMCA, St. Claire University, the University of South Carolina, the Government of Gibraltar, Hyperion Technology, Societe Generale and Scheck Industries, among others, Tonido offers both privacy and exhaustive support for iOS, Android, Windows 8 and BlackBerry devices. In less than a year, FileCloud has been adopted by hundreds of organizations in more than 12 countries. Currently, over 1000 businesses are undergoing a FileCloud trial.
"We tested a variety of cloud storage solutions, but costs were prohibitive, the servers weren't on premises, and they were not customizable in the options we needed to implement," said Kevin Hera, IT manager at Scheck Industries, a national industrial contractor. "FileCloud's use of Active Directory as a means of authentication, on-premises installation--so we know where our data resides—and cost truly hit the mark."
