"The $5,000 matching gift from the Billy Rose Foundation for Code of Support Foundation's #GivingTuesday campaign has increased the potential for the foundation's core programs to better assist our military service members, veterans and their families," said Major General (Ret) Alan Salisbury, COSF founder and CEO. "Code of Support Foundation's #GivingTuesday campaign along with the generosity of the Billy Rose Foundation is an opportunity for all Americans to engage and give back to those who have served and sacrificed on behalf of this country and for others around the world."
"The Billy Rose Foundation is particularly pleased to provide this grant to the Code of Support Foundation in support of the great work they are doing to support our troops and veterans," said John Wohlstetter, Billy Rose Foundation trustee. "In its work with military families in need, COSF touches on all three of our areas of interest, health, education and culture to make the lives of these heroes better and more fulfilling."
With more than 57,000 homeless veterans and an unemployment rate for post 9/11 veterans that is almost twice the national average, COSF provides critical case coordination and an integrated support network for those seeking assistance. The types of cases span from essential transition support such as housing to acute needs for those veterans with physical and mental health issues. The #GivingTuesday campaign is also a vital component of COSF's awareness and engagement program. The program encourages Americans to sign the Code of Support and provides hands-on activities to connect and support military service members, veterans and their families within their own communities.
