COD Boasts Largest Spring Gains in Illinois
GLEN ELLYN, Ill., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On the heels of the start of a successful spring semester which saw significant growth in both Full Time Equivalent students and net credit headcount, figures released by the Illinois Community College Board show that College of DuPage had the largest FTEs and credit headcount growth in spring 10th day enrollment figures among the state's 39 community college districts.

The College's net 10th day FTEs were up 2.1 percent (to 15,952) for the spring 2015 term while credit headcount was up 3.6 percent (to 29,108) – the highest-ever spring enrollment for the institution. Additionally, College of DuPage had the largest increase in FTEs (326) and credit headcount (1,008) in the state. Across Illinois, spring enrollment is down an average of 4.2 percent in FTEs and 3.4 percent in credit headcount, according to the ICCB report.
Among the report's other findings:
- Between spring 2011 and spring 2015, College of DuPage is the only community college district to increase both headcount (7.7 percent) and FTEs (6.3 percent).
- For spring 2015, the College of DuPage district had the largest online duplicated headcount at 10,233. Collectively, the next largest online duplicated headcount is the City Colleges of Chicago district (comprised of seven colleges) with 6,830.
"These numbers speak volumes about what we are able to provide our students and the value they see in College of DuPage," said COD President Dr. Robert L. Breuder.
"Reaching these enrollment milestones substantiates our hard work, particularly when considering the nationwide downward enrollment trend."
Earlier this year, College of DuPage was named the fastest-growing community college in the nation outside of California by Community College Week in a study with data gathered by the U.S. Department of Education.
"These latest figures from the ICCB show that we are positioning ourselves to be the primary choice for higher education in DuPage County and beyond," said COD Chairman Erin Birt.
Among the state's public colleges and universities, College of DuPage, with more than 29,000 students, is the second largest provider of undergraduate education in the State of Illinois, after University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Click here to read more.
