Cockroach Labs Accelerates Growth in 2018
Client list grows to include enterprise brands such as Comcast, Bose, Baidu, and Nubank
NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cockroach Labs, the company behind CockroachDB, the ultra-resilient SQL database for global business, is on track to see record growth this year. The company has hit a number of milestones since the 2.0 CockroachDB release in April of this year, including bringing on significant new customers, breaking into new verticals, hiring senior-level strategic roles, increasing headcount by 36%, and opening new offices across the US.
Cockroach Labs' roster of customers continues to grow and includes name brands such as Comcast, Bose, Kindred, Baidu, and Nubank, among others. The range of industries served by Cockroach Labs speaks to the universal business need for a database solution that not only scales elastically but provides the consistency and resilience required to build services that are always available and never lose data. CockroachDB's standard of resiliency is a critical feature for companies focused on handling financial transactions at a massive, global scale. This has led to several long-term CockroachDB pilots currently running within Fortune 500 companies in the financial sector and increased interest from businesses that manage financial ledgers across the globe.
"Enterprises are looking for a distributed SQL database that provides the flexibility and solid performance to support global growth," said Co-Founder and CEO of Cockroach Labs Spencer Kimball. "This means a cloud-neutral solution which can support on-premise, cloud, hybrid cloud, and multi-cloud environments. These are solutions that have not been available to enterprises in the past and are not available on Oracle, AWS or GCP, which is also why we are seeing so much growth in the market."
New Hires; New Offices
To add to the company's senior expertise in supporting global businesses, Cockroach Labs recently appointed Jeff Miller, Chief Revenue Officer. Miller brings over 20 years of Sales Leadership experience in the enterprise technology sector and B2B cloud companies. Prior to Cockroach Labs, Jeff was Senior Vice President of Sales at Hortonworks, where he helped build the sales org from scratch, CRO at Virtustream, an Enterprise Cloud provider acquired by EMC/Dell, and CRO at OverOps. He also led sales organizations at SpringSource (purchased by VMware), Novell, and JBoss, Inc. (purchased by Red Hat).
In addition to bringing on a wave of new customers and new hires, Cockroach Labs has opened two new offices in Seattle, Washington, and Boston, Massachusetts. Cockroach Labs is also moving the company headquarters to a larger office space in the Flatiron neighborhood of New York City later this year.
This momentum follows a $27 Million Series B for Cockroach Labs in April of 2017 led by Redpoint with participation from Benchmark, GV, Index Ventures and FirstMark.
