Coalition of Retail and Consumer Goods Multinationals to Publish Global Packaging Project Guidelines; Compliance Implications for Packagers and Suppliers to be Addressed in i2live Conference Call Sep. 13
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Victor Bell, president of Environmental Packaging International, will share his understanding of the Global Packaging Project (GPP) and discuss its implications for the packaging industry and the entire supply chain during an online conference call on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2:00 PM ET. This event is sponsored by Industry Intelligence Inc. as part of its i2live series. Register for free at http://www.industryintel.com/i2live.
The Global CEO Forum, which brings together the CEOs of major consumer packaged good and retail companies twice each year, formed the GPP in the fall of 2008. The purpose of the GPP is to enable better decision-making, both within companies and across the value chain. As a result, companies can achieve cost reductions, reduce environmental impact and improve consumer perception.
GPP guidelines are supported by major packaging companies and retail and consumer goods multinational corporations. This initiative delivers a common language and simple metrics to enable more informed dialogue between trading partners about the relationship between packaging and sustainability. Representative participants in GPP's pilot program include Carrefour, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Dyna Pack, General Mills, Green Bay Packaging, Henkel, Kraft Foods, Kroger, Nestle, P&G, Target, Tesco, Unilever, Walmart.
Bell, a member of the GPP committee, will explain the measurement system used by GPP and its vision during this i2live discussion. He will also address the project's impact on the supply chain and advise on the next steps of GPP compliance. His presentation will provide answers to questions on how to select which metrics to use, how to use them and what information will be needed in the future.
Founder and president of Environmental Packaging International, Bell is a Certified Packaging Professional with more than 20 years of experience with environmental issues associated with packaging and products. He has MMA (Marine Affairs) and BS (Natural Resource) degrees from the University of Rhode Island and an MS (Urban and Environmental Studies) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
