CMG Deems Recent Annual Conference a Great Success
Several Industry Leaders Honored for their Contributions to the Field of Computer Performance Analysis, Capacity Planning, and Service Delivery
TURNERSVILLE, N.J., Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Computer Measurement Group (CMG), a not-for-profit, worldwide organization of IT professionals, reports that its 36th International conference (CMG'10) in Orlando was "an outstanding and incredibly successful event," featuring educational presentations, informative exhibits, and networking opportunities – all centered around "doing more with less."
Attendees and exhibitors alike bestowed highly positive reviews of their participation and attendance at the conference. CMG awarded the "Best Paper" to the following individuals:
- Shana Bereznay, Affiliated Computer Services; Rauf Rushton, IBM Corp.; and Frank Bereznay, IBM Corp.; "How to Build Tabular Dashboards using Proc Report"
The "Best Paper" is chosen from a very select set of papers that the conference paper referees deem as "best paper" quality when they read and evaluate the submissions for the conference.
CMG awarded the Mullen Award to the following individuals:
- Fernando Martinez, CGI Inc., for "IT Performance Management in a Financial Crisis: An Informal Report"
- Dr. Anna Long, Webanalytica, for "An Introduction to Web Analytics for Performance Analysts and Capacity Planners"
The J. William Mullen award is given in memory of CMG past president Bill Mullen in recognition for his contributions to CMG and the profession of information technology. The award recipient is an individual who exhibits both technical excellence and an engaging presentation style.
CMG awarded the A. A. Michelson Award – its highest award for lifetime achievement - to the following individual:
- Dr. Michael Salsburg, Distinguished Engineer and Chief Architect for Unisys Cloud Technologies.
Albert Abraham Michelson was known for his technical accomplishments in measuring the speed of light and for his role as teacher and inspirer of others. CMG presents this highly prestigious award to recognize those rare individuals who have made significant contributions to the success of the computer evaluation field.
Dr. Michael Salsburg received the prestigious A.A. Michelson Award for his contributions to performance modeling and analysis which have lead to two international patents, two commercial modeling products, and dozens of papers in the technical literature. His work has employed a range of modeling technologies including simulation, analytic, and statistical modeling. Dr. Salsburg has also been a major force in shaping the evolution of CMG. As the 2006 Program Chair, he architected and launched the set of sessions called "CMG-T" to provide basic training for new and seasoned members of the organization. These sessions have remained a vibrant part of the conference. He has also served CMG as a member of the Board of Directors, as editor of MeasureIT, and numerous other leadership positions over the past quarter century.
