Clustrix Recognized in Gartner's 2016 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems
Scale-out RDBMS Consistently Moves Up the Quadrant Three Years in a Row
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Clustrix (www.clustrix.com), provider of the first scale-out database designed for the elastic scaling requirements of high-transaction, high-value workloads of today's Web applications, was recently included in Gartner's 2016 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems. Clustrix has shown consistent upward movement for three consecutive years since 2014, when Gartner first featured the company in this quadrant.
"Clustrix's recent Magic Quadrant positioning and our sustained upward trajectory reflects our continued commitment to improving on the performance, scalability, flexibility, integrity and security that our customers require," said Mike Azevedo, CEO, Clustrix. "The market demands placed on database infrastructure are incredibly dynamic, and we are constantly iterating our solution to remain ahead of the curve."
Pushing the boundaries of RDBMS
Gartner defines the operational database management system (DBMS) market as relational and non-relational database management products suitable for a broad range of enterprise-level transactional applications. While Clustrix is defined as an RDBMS, it distinctly differs from its market counterparts in its ability to "scale out" in a manner similar to web applications, by simply adding server nodes. This gives the ability to scale to virtually any workload size without sacrificing performance, the benefits of which were highlighted by Infoworld's Martin Heller, who cited ClustrixDB's outperformance of AWS Aurora for low-latency, high-transaction-rate scenarios (see "ClustrixDB Scales Out--Way Out").
The latest release announced last month – ClustrixDB 8.0 – expands capabilities into realms that may not have been previously thought of as RDBMS territory, such as IoT applications which require both fast processing speeds and massive scalability, alongside equally important data integrity considerations. The new version helps customers meet the challenge of explosive growth in transactional workloads with new features that improve performance, ease-of-use, and security:
- In-memory processing for a 3x performance boost
- Full containerization, making it easy to install and orchestrate ongoing maintenance, whether in the cloud or data center
- Heightened security with AES 256-bit encryption performance optimized to meet big data scalability requirements in distributed computing architectures
For a second consecutive year, Gartner's Magic Quadrant report also called out Clustrix's exceptional customer service, noting that Clustrix scored well above average in most customer experience areas like ease-of-programming, support, documentation and professional services. Clustrix powers some of the most dynamic global companies, including: TWOO, Europe's largest dating site; MakeMyTrip, India's top online travel site; and Rakuten, Japan's largest e-commerce site.
