ClubCorp's Mission Hills Country Club Serves as Site of LPGA Championship for 41 Years
DALLAS, March 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mission Hills Country Club, a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, is proud to welcome, for the 41st consecutive year, the LPGA to the club March 26-April 1, 2012, as the club serves as the site of the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the LPGA's first major of the year. Mission Hills has served as the venue for the tournament since it was founded in 1972 by Dinah Shore.
ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs, and its more than 90 golf and country clubs are committed to growing the game of golf among women and juniors and take great pride in being a part of one of the most important LPGA tournaments of the year. The clubs support and grow the game among women and juniors throughout the year with a variety of activities, events, and initiatives, including:
- Supporting The First Tee
During the week of April 23-29, ClubCorp's golf and country clubs are holding a series of fundraising events and "open house" tee times to raise money for "Tee It Up for The First Tee," part of The First Tee Campaign for 10 Million Young People. For more information on how to participate, visit ClubCorp's website at www.clubcorp.com. - Supporting the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA)
Mission Hills serves as the site of the AJGA's Mission Hills Desert Junior, named in 2012 as "The AJGA Tournament of the Year." Junior golfers from around the country compete in the 54-hole, stroke play tournament on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course and, afterward, as is the tradition at the LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship, jump into Poppie's Pond near the 18th green. - Naming Cathy Harbin Vice President of Golf Revenue
In February 2012, ClubCorp named Cathy Harbin as its vice president of golf revenue. Harbin, who most recently served as executive director of Golf 20/20, is, among other things, responsible for assisting ClubCorp's golf and country club division in initiatives to grow the game of golf.
In addition to growing the game of golf, ClubCorp has been renovating and reinventing a number of their clubs to offer more opportunities for members to connect, play, work, host, celebrate and enjoy new dining features in more contemporary settings.
Amenities at many of the "reinvented" country clubs include new:
- Contemporary and stylish bar and grill areas
- Anytime lounges and multimedia rooms with 103" plasma screens
- Touchdown rooms for members to catch up on email or work
- Outdoor terraces with fire bars
"The renovations don't just represent a redesign of the facilities but a reinvention of the culture by answering the needs of the changing lifestyles of today's private club members and making them more relevant, vibrant and fun hubs for the communities," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp president and CEO.
