ClubCorp Raises More Than $78,000 For Veterans During "March Toward Memorial Day" Fundraising Campaign
DALLAS, June 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs, announces that, in a nationwide effort to honor and assist veterans, clubs in the ClubCorp family and their members raised more than $78,000 during the company's March Toward Memorial Day fundraising efforts. The donations will be divided and donated to a variety of PGA-inspired veterans' programs, including Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA), Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere (GIVE), Clearview Legacy Foundation, as well as the Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc.
During the campaign, which took place the week leading up to Memorial Day weekend, nearly all golf and country clubs donated a portion of the green fees for every guest round while business and sports clubs made a donation each time a veteran dined at the club during lunch or dinner. The campaign culminated Memorial Day weekend with golf and country clubs offering additional fundraising efforts throughout the three-day weekend.
Donations from golf and country clubs will be presented to:
- Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA), which provides recreational therapy, through the game of golf, to combat-wounded American soldiers injured in Iraq or Afghanistan.
- Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere (GIVE), an organization that trains men and women veterans in the fundamentals of golf to enhance their mental, social, physical and emotional well-being and improve their quality of life.
- Clearview Legacy Foundation, which oversees Clearview H.O.P.E., the women's veteran counterpart to GIVE.
Donations from business and sports clubs will be presented to:
- Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc, which assists injured service members and their families while they recuperate at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center.
"ClubCorp is extremely proud and honored to be able to donate money to these important organizations, which assist these men and women who have made incredible sacrifices for our country," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp president and CEO.
ClubCorp also recently announced its role as a major sponsor of the Warrior Open, a two-day golf tournament hosted by the George W. Bush Presidential Center on Oct. 10 and 11, 2011, at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas. The tournament will feature members of the U.S. Armed Forces who served their country honorably and were severely wounded during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Las Colinas Country Club is a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs.
