ClubCorp Donates More Than $440,000 to MDA's Augie's Quest During 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon
DALLAS, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs, announces that it donated more than $440,000 during the 2010 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. The money, which was raised during last year's ClubCorp Charity Classic, specifically benefits "Augie's Quest," an initiative within MDA that is an aggressive, cure-driven effort singularly focused on treatments and cures for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease).
The annual ClubCorp Charity Classic is the world's largest, one-day golf and dining event during which nearly 150 golf and country clubs and business and sports clubs in the ClubCorp family of clubs open their courses and dining rooms to an estimated 25,000 members, guests and patrons for tournaments, dining events, auctions and social extravaganzas around the country.
In addition to MDA's "Augie's Quest," funds raised from ClubCorp Charity Classic benefit the Employee Partners Care Foundation, which aids ClubCorp employees in times of need, and a local nonprofit group selected individually by each participating club. Since its inception in 2007, ClubCorp's Charity Classic has raised nearly $5 million benefitting charities including MDA's Augie's Quest, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Employee Partners Care Foundation.
The official date of the 2010 ClubCorp Charity Classic is Oct. 1, during which ClubCorp hopes to raise $1.5 million, and on or around that date, a variety of events with an array of activities and themes take place. To name a few:
- In Chicago, the Metropolitan Club, located on the 66th and 67th floor in Willis Tower, is hosting an "Over Looking Neighborhood Cooking," event which invites guests to tour the flavors of Chicago's neighborhoods at cooking stations throughout the club along with cooking demonstrations from well-known local chefs.
- Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club, located in Orange County, California, annually holds one of the largest events and this year offers activities focusing on all that the club has to offer, including golf, health and fitness, tennis, swimming, both a silent and live auction, and great food.
- In Arizona, Anthem Golf & Country Club in Anthem is organizing golf and tennis tournaments, followed by a concert and BBQ on the club's lawn while Seville Golf & Racquet Club in Seville is marking the event with a "Golf Fiesta and Party on the Plaza" that includes a family pool day.
- The Country Club of the South just outside of Atlanta, which ClubCorp acquired in June 2010, will participate in the event for the first time and turn its golf course into a "Wacky Tacky Golf"-themed action-packed course with food and drink stations throughout.
With nearly 150 private clubs around the country opening their doors to the general public, the ClubCorp Charity Classic provides a great opportunity for non-members to visit and learn more about their local clubs. Those who would like to participate in the Charity Classic but are unable to attend one of the golf or dining events can participate in an online auction to support many great causes and bid on extraordinary items and vacation packages.
