ClubCorp Charity Classic Announces Record Results, More Than $1.7 Million Raised for Charities Across the U.S.
Monies Raised Will Benefit MDA's Augie's Quest, the ClubCorp Employee Partners Care Foundation and Dozens of Local Charities throughout the Country
DALLAS, Jan. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs, announces today that it raised more than $1.7 million for a variety of charities throughout the U.S. during the 2011 ClubCorp Charity Classic, the company's major annual philanthropic open-house event. More than 125 properties in ClubCorp's family of clubs participated with more than 16,000 individuals attending a variety of fundraising events and activities that included golf and tennis tournaments, formal dinners, concerts, swim-a-thons, chef competitions, cookouts and auctions at clubs throughout the country.
During the annual Charity Classic events, private clubs within the ClubCorp family of clubs open their doors to the general public and communities to support many important causes. The Charity Classic also includes an online auction that offers, among other things, international and national getaways, golf packages, dining experiences, and art.
Since its inception in 2007, ClubCorp's Charity Classic has raised nearly $8.2 million benefitting charities including MDA's Augie's Quest, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boys and Girls Clubs, Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Employee Partners Care Foundation.
"I am extremely proud of the hard work, dedication, and contributions of our clubs and their members and employee partners, who have come together with their communities to support so many great causes," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp president and CEO. "This initiative has always been close to my heart and is a strong reflection of ClubCorp's commitment to Building Relationships and Enriching Lives."
"Augie's Quest recently discovered a drug that slows the progression of ALS in the animal model and, a few weeks ago, we finalized a partnership with two major pharmaceutical companies to test this in humans," said Augie Nieto, chief inspiration officer, Augie's Quest, and co-chair of MDA's ALS division. "This was possible because of past support from ClubCorp, the members and the employees. I can't thank Eric enough for his friendship and shared vision. My wife, Lynne, and I consider the entire ClubCorp family as our own and are extremely appreciative of their continued support."
The official date for the Sixth Annual ClubCorp Charity Classic event is Sept. 28, 2012, with events throughout the country to be held from April 2012 through October 2012. For more information on the ClubCorp Charity Classic, visit www.clubcorpcharityclassic.com.
