The purchase of Chantilly National marks the third acquisition in 2013 for ClubCorp. Earlier this year ClubCorp added Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma, and Cherry Valley Country Club in Skillman, New Jersey, to its portfolio of clubs. ClubCorp will embark upon an extensive multimillion-dollar renovation project at Chantilly National that will include improvements to the clubhouse and the golf, tennis, and pool areas.
"The purchase of Chantilly National and our plans to further improve the facilities and experience demonstrates our strategic pursuit of growing through value-enhancing acquisitions, reinvention through capital investments, and adding reciprocal benefits for our more than 370,000 members," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp's president and chief executive officer.
"The club – located in a beautiful area of the country and in close proximity to DC – is an ideal location for the ClubCorp Network," said Mark Burnett, ClubCorp's chief operating officer. ClubCorp clubs in the local area include River Creek Club in Leesburg, Piedmont Club in Haymarket, The Tower Club - Tysons Corner and City Club of Washington. As a member of the ClubCorp family, Chantilly National members also can enjoy Community and Worldwide benefits including complimentary green fees and complimentary dining at more than 200 private clubs and access to more than 700 hotels, resorts and entertainment venues.
In addition to great golf, Chantilly National features tennis facilities with lighted courts, and swimming pools, including an Olympic-size pool. Chantilly National offers a variety of well-rounded programming, tournaments, and lessons for all ages in tennis, golf and swimming.
"Our decision was based on recognizing an immediate increase in membership value through ClubCorp's commitment of capital improvements along with the unique advantages of ClubCorp's Network. Our membership has been impressed with ClubCorp's history of success and its leadership," said Frank Grace, Chantilly National's president.
