CloudPassage Hires Industry Veteran Rand Wacker as Vice President of Product Management
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CloudPassage™ Inc., the leading cloud server security company, today announced that information security expert and industry veteran Rand Wacker has joined the company as vice president of product management. Wacker joins CloudPassage from Cisco Systems security business unit where he led work on products in multiple security markets, including firewall, intrusion prevention, content security, and compliance. He came to Cisco through the acquisition of IronPort Systems.
"Rand was responsible for product strategy and a key driver of IronPort's success. IronPort is one of the great security startup stories – they executed brilliantly," said Carson Sweet, co-founder and CEO of Cloud Passage. "We're excited that Rand chose to bring his experience building product portfolios to CloudPassage. He will help us dominate the IaaS security market."
Wacker will be responsible for product strategy and will play a core leadership role in product and go-to-market execution. His goal at CloudPassage is to enable the industry's adoption of disruptive cloud computing services by solving security and compliance needs.
"Cloud adoption is accelerating through all segments of the IT industry, and security is a top concern of IT departments planning their strategy. CloudPassage is uniquely positioned to solve customers' security and compliance concerns in this transition," said Wacker. "I'm thrilled to join a team with a deep understanding of the security needs of customers, and willing to re-think the approach to solve the problems of this new cloud-based environment."
Prior to Cisco and IronPort, Wacker has held engineering, marketing, and strategy roles at Sendmail, Amazon, and Oracle. Wacker holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from the Haas School of Business, also at Berkeley.
