CloudBlue Unveils DataToaster™ for Evolving Data Destruction Demand
Multi-drive system increases flexibility, efficiency, cost savings for on-site data eradication
NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CloudBlue Technologies, Inc., a worldwide provider of electronics disposition services, today announced its DataToaster™, the patent-pending multi-drive data eradication solution that "toasts" data faster than ever before. The DataToaster is designed to enable data centers to simultaneously wipe fibre channel drives from multiple manufacturers, expediting the erasure process and saving time and resources. The system brings enhanced flexibility and speed to the asset decommission process; a crucial step for companies to ensure data remains secure beyond the IT equipments' life cycles.
"As companies' technology requirements evolve, it's become increasingly difficult to plan for the necessary security at the end of life of disparate systems and networks," said Ken Beyer, CEO of CloudBlue. "This often results in a broad collection of data center equipment containing confidential data that can be difficult to efficiently eradicate. We designed the DataToaster to eliminate this challenge based on our experience in completing thousands of drive wipes in hundreds of data centers over the last several years."
With the DataToaster fibre channel drives from NAS (network attached storage) and SAN (storage area networks) boxes no longer require caddy swapping, special disk arrays or individual data wiping. Instead, the DataToaster quickly facilitates the connection to numerous drives all at once, saving up to 20 percent of the time typically required to do the same task without the DataToaster. The DataToaster's design can accommodate a variety of hardware manufacturers, allowing state-of-the-art software to perform the data wipe in unison without sacrificing the quality of the overwrite. To ensure data security, any drive that fails any portion of the data wipe process is degaussed and physically shredded.
CloudBlue's Onsite Services Team manages the eradication process and, upon completion, furnishes a detailed reporting of the services performed along with a Certificate of Data Erasure and Destruction. Additional DataToaster features include:
- Portable 4-Port and 8-Port interface with a single fibre connection
- Expandable configuration for larger volume requests
- Processing in the original caddy
- Standard 3-Pass overwrite (7-Pass available)
- Ability to wipe drives with 5v / 12v and proprietary 12v-only power configurations
- Ability to wipe all SATA drives (with fibre interposer board)
- Option for hard drive testing
According to a recently published Forrester Research report, data security has become the top priority for chief information security officers, outweighing disaster recovery, identity and access management and regulatory compliance. CloudBlue has served this need since the company's inception by combining the IT industry's most in-depth security methods including the ability to destroy sensitive data on-site. CloudBlue takes total and legal ownership of every IT asset from its customers at the point of pick up. Each asset is scanned, digitally tagged and uploaded to a secure client specific web portal before being sealed in a GPS tracking-enabled truck and taken to a CloudBlue facility.
CloudBlue manages all aspects of electronics disposition including IT asset management; consumer electronics returns; onsite professional services; data destruction; depot repair; remarketing; redeployment and recycling. As one of just ten e-Stewards® Certified recyclers, CloudBlue ensures independently audited, environmental compliance for all of its customers.
