Cloudability Acquires Fellow Portland Startup, RipFog
PORTLAND, Ore., July 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cloudability today announced that it has acquired RipFog, a Portland, OR-based startup founded by former Jive CEO, Dave Hersh.
Cloudability, also based in Portland, provides Cloud Cost Management tools for companies running on public cloud providers like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. The acquisition of RipFog brings with it new technology and talent focused in big data analytics.
The engineers joining Cloudability, led by RipFog co-founder and former Urban Airship Chief Architect Erik Onnen, have spent the past year and a half solving real-world problems using big data at RipFog. "It's great to be a part of a Portland company tackling big data problems," says Erik. "And it's an excellent culture fit on both sides."
"As the cloud market has evolved, cost management demands have gotten more complex and involved greater and greater amounts of data," says Cloudability Founder and CEO Mat Ellis. "With RipFog's engineering background in big data analytics, we look forward to pushing the boundaries of what our own analytics tools can do, and advancing the state of the art in cloud cost management."
