SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- RSA Conference 2016 -- The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) today announced the formation of the CSA Global Advisory Board, a ten-member body representing some the world's most recognized experts within information technology, information security, risk management and cloud computing industries. The Global Advisory Board has been established to support CSA in further anticipating emerging trends, and as a result, increase the influence enterprises have over the future of the cloud industry's ability to address dynamic and optimal cloud security requirements.
"Cloud computing is clearly the future of IT. We believe this is a seminal moment for enterprises that will be significant for users of the cloud to take action to help assure the security of the cloud, with CSA's standards and recommendations at the forefront within this ecosystem," said Jim Reavis, CEO of the CSA. "By using this advocacy platform, we can achieve a force multiplier over our voices individually, and more effectively solve enterprise cloud security issues."
"The education and standards work the CSA has done over the years has established a great foundation, making it an obvious partner from which to drive the additional work and awareness that needs to be done to secure cloud computing for enterprise use. Cloud computing is central to many enterprise IT strategies today and it is paramount to ensure security is embedded into the DNA of the rapidly evolving nature of various cloud services," said Vinay Patel, Global Head of Information Security, Citigroup and Chair of the Global Advisory Board. "The time is now for cloud providers and enterprises to join forces towards establishing a common agenda towards this goal."
Among the members of the advisory board are:
- V. Jay LaRosa Vice President, Global Security Architecture, Global Security Organization at Automatic Data Processing
- Gurdeep Kaur, AIG
- Ricky Arora, IT&S Group Enterprise Architecture Capability Manager, British Petroleum
- Joe Zacharias, Head of Information Security Engineering
Enterprise Security Risk Management, Global Information Services, Caterpillar Inc
- Vinay Patel, Global Head of Information Security, Citigroup
- Pete Nicoletti, Chief Information Security Officer, Hertz
- Michael Panico, Director of Security and Content Protection, Lucasfilm
- Jairo Orea, Chief Security Architect, UnitedHealth Group
Among its key initiatives, the CSA Global Enterprise Advisory Board plans to issue periodic public guidance regarding issues related to CSA's mission, including an annual report, State of Cloud Security, with the first such report being issued today at RSA Conference. The State of Cloud Security 2016 report seeks to view the cloud computing industry through the lens of the enterprise information security practitioner. By articulating the state of cloud security from this viewpoint, the report aims to grow awareness of the gaps and solutions that practitioners must advocate for, and help cloud providers better understand the needs of their customers.
