On April 29, 2014, U.S. Bancorp (US Bank) announced the close of a $320 million loan facility for The Taubman Realty Group Limited Partnership to finance the development of The Mall of San Juan. The Mall is a 650,000-square-foot shopping and entertainment complex in Puerto Rico, which attracts nearly five million tourists annually and will be the first Caribbean location for major U.S. retailers Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. The mall is currently under construction and is expected to open in March 2015. The Allstate Corporation Analyst Notes
On May 6, 2014, The Allstate Corporation (Allstate) released its Q1 2014 financial results. The Company reported Q1 2014 revenues of $8.7 billion, up 2.6% YoY, topping the Zacks consensus estimate of $7.6 billion. During the quarter, the Company's property-liability insurance premiums that constitute a major portion of total revenues moved up 4.3% YoY to $7.1 billion. Operating income was $588 million or $1.30 per diluted common share in Q1 2014, compared to $647 million or $1.35 per diluted common share in Q1 2013. Severe winter weather drove catastrophe losses of $445 million, 24% higher than in the prior year quarter, while also adversely impacting underlying losses. Q1 2014 net income available to common shareholders came in at $587 million or $1.30 per diluted share, compared to net income of $709 million or $1.47 per diluted share in Q1 2013.
