Clip Interactive Activates FM Chip Listening on Additional Devices
Clip Interactive expands FM listening to the HTC One M9, HTC Desire 610, Sharp Aquos Crystal and LG G3
BOULDER, Colo., April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Clip Interactive announced that the FM chip listening option has been expanded to more mobile devices. In addition to the HTC One M8, consumers who own the HTC One M9, HTC Desire 610, Sharp Aquos Crystal and LG G3 will now have the capability to listen to local FM radio without the use of data on any station on the Clip Interactive platform.
The FM chip, a piece of hardware installed in certain Android smartphones, allows the local FM broadcast to be received through a mobile phone. Clip Interactive's application technology connects to this chip, allowing the listener to tune into local stations without having to stream, which depletes data allowances and consumes more battery life. FM chip activation through Clip Interactive mobile apps allows stations to optimize listening options for users.
"Activating the FM chip on more devices benefits the listener as they can reduce data usage and enjoy the real-time broadcast," said Peter Shoebridge, chief technology officer at Clip Interactive. "The industry can expect more announcements about additional devices in the coming weeks as we continue our mission to provide interactive radio to the masses."
