Clinton And Trump Go "Head-To-Head" At Madame Tussauds Washington, DC
First Photo Featuring Sculpted Clay-Head Molds Of 2016's Presidential Candidates in the Lead Up to November's Heated Election. Which Clay Sculpt Will Become the Next Madame Tussauds Commander-in-Chief In Wax? The Race Is On!
WASHINGTON, Aug. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Madame Tussauds DC released the first image featuring the clay-head sculpts of the Republican and Democratic Presidential nominees, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. In keeping with tradition, the wax attraction located in the heart of the nation's capital will create a wax figure of the 45th president just in time for inauguration. In an election already filled with historic firsts, this year marks the first time in the famed attraction's history that the creation of the presidential clay head sculpts began before their respective political parties officially announced their nominees. The 2016 election is breaking more than one record for the wax attraction; this is also the first time that both presidential candidates have previously been immortalized by Madame Tussauds artists.
"Anyone and everyone is discussing the presidential race right now, it is the most scrutinized election in recent memory," says Therese Alvich, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Washington, DC, "With hot button issues and polarizing candidates at the forefront of the race, this is a particularly fun year for us to participate in the tradition of making the next President of the United States!"
Far earlier than ever before and in the midst of two very exciting campaign trails, Madame Tussauds studio artists were able to initiate the figure creation process in London. With Trump and Clinton emerging as decisive front-runners, the six month long figure making process began with the sculpting of their clay heads back in June. Displayed face-to-face, Clinton and Trump are built on wire frames that support the busts upright. Made with Madame Tussauds' signature clay, studio artists are able to sculpt, shape, and mold these lifelike figures to perfectly capture each individual's likeness.
"Knowing how many eyes are diligently watching this election, made these clay sculpts even more exciting than usual," said Madame Tussauds Principle Sculptor Stephen Mansfield, who worked on Hillary Clinton's previous figure as well as that of then-presidential candidate George W. Bush in 2000. "Creating the Republican and Democratic nominees is one of our favorite traditions and I cannot wait to begin the final countdown of who we will see as a finished figure."
Once the Presidency is decided on November 8th, Madame Tussauds' studio artists will use the clay head sculpt of the winning candidate to complete the elected figure in time for Inauguration Day. If elected, Trump will don his famous hairstyle and Clinton will become the first ever former first lady to join the line-up of US Presidents. With the addition of either the figure of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, Madame Tussauds Washington, DC will remain the only attraction in the world where visitors can get up close and "personal" with every individual who has served as Commander-in-Chief.
Madame Tussauds Washington, DC is not the only location which will receive a figure of the newest President. Tussauds locations in New York, Orlando, and London will also be unveiling the victorious figure upon his or her inauguration.
