Clint Didier (R-WA): 'WA Primary Is Over, but Game Clock Is Still Ticking'
KENNEWICK, Wash., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Senate Candidate Clint Didier (R-WA) issued the following statement regarding the election results from his campaign headquarters in Eastern Washington:
"In sports the saying goes, 'Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.' But this year it isn't just about the total points on the board – it's about changing the direction of the game. This campaign and its supporters have started moving the ball in that direction. A lot of people in this 'blue' state got their first taste of a true conservative message. But we're not finished yet.
"I want to give my heartfelt thanks to the tens of thousands of supporters across the state that voted for me, but more importantly, the trust that comes with those votes. The energy, commitment and grit they've shown me in this campaign has constantly inspired and humbled me.
"While I may not be their official representative in the 'other Washington' this time, I won't betray that trust. I won't throw them under the bus because we didn't get one of the top two spots. The establishment here in Washington has done that to them too many times before. .
"People have told me their stories as I've traveled across the state -- stories of anger, of frustration, and heartbreak about this country. But they're also energized and ready to work to take back this country. Many of them have never been involved in politics or campaigns before. Others tell me they haven't voted in years because they didn't have a reason to vote until now.
"These votes aren't just an automatic 'gimme' because of the letter next to a candidate's name. Anyone who wants to represent these wonderful people needs to hear – no, make that really listen to - what they have to say. To listen to the wisdom of the people, and to make commitments that will be kept. They need to see some fire in the belly and some real conviction to get their votes.
"I'm going to make sure that those voices aren't drowned out as we head into the election. I promise my supporters that I'll be with them all the way to Election Day – and beyond.
"As a coach, I always tell my team that you never give up until the last seconds are off the clock. And team, the game clock is still ticking."
