The multi-specialty group will take advantage of government subsidies for Electronic Health Records under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
"We are excited to empower our clinicians with the technology to improve the quality and coordination of patient care," said Michael Ozier, MD, Managing Partner of Clinics of North Texas. "The added convenience of using Allscripts to access patient information remotely, whether at the office or at home, further enhances our ability to care for our patients when they need it most."
As part of its clinical and financial transformation, Clinics of North Texas will provide physicians remote access to the Electronic Health Record via iPhone®, BlackBerry® and Windows® smart phones.
Melissa Huff, Director of Information Technology at Clinics of North Texas, said the group selected Allscripts because its integrated solutions offered the strongest functionality and flexibility to optimize quality of care and reduce costs. "Our physicians determined the Allscripts solutions were the easiest to use and fit their individual workflow needs while at the same time supporting interdisciplinary care coordination and collaboration across the practice."
Robust financial reporting was also a key consideration. Huff explained, "The solution will enable us to make better day-to-day and long-term clinical and business decisions with real-time access to information, something we had not been able to do with our previous practice management system."
Allscripts Chief Executive Glen Tullman commented, "As physicians face increasing pressure to make their practices more efficient and cost-effective, more leading groups like Clinics of North Texas are finding they need to replace outdated practice management systems and take advantage of the latest revenue cycle management tools. Our integrated solutions will help Clinics of North Texas deliver not only improved care and operational efficiencies but a clear return on investment through the ARRA incentives for EHR adoption."
The Allscripts Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solution automates many daily clinical tasks, such as prescribing medications and documenting clinical encounters, while connecting providers to each other and to labs, pharmacies and insurers. For back-office staff, the solution combines sophisticated scheduling and financial management tools such as rules-based appointment scheduling, multi-resource and recurring appointment features, referral and eligibility indicators, and appointment and claims management. Additionally, the Allscripts Revenue Cycle solution enables providers to verify eligibility insurance and benefit information in real-time, and submit claims to insurers quickly, accurately and cost effectively. The solution is used by thousands of physician groups across the U.S. to process more than 300 million claims and 600 million revenue cycle management transactions each year.
