"Taking the next step to mobility creates a great environment to augment our core strategies," said David Siva, Director of Medical I.S. and Technology for DCHS. "The results with CliniComp to date have been outstanding, enhancing overall satisfaction for physicians."
DCHS designated O'Connor Hospital, a 358-bed community hospital in San Jose, Calif., to conduct a clinical evaluation of the Essentris Fetal mobile application. Led by primary investigator Mario Cordero, MD, the evaluation resulted in the physicians strongly agreeing that the Essentris Fetal application has value for use while monitoring a patient during labor remotely. The physicians recommended DCHS proceed with a systemwide implementation.
Under the mobility contract, CliniComp will support new mobile capabilities for the Essentris EMR system that will allow physicians and clinicians to read and make annotations directly on a fetal strip using mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. Essentris Fetal enables obstetricians and other labor & delivery clinicians to have reliable, secure and quick access to the current and length-of-stay fetal strip and other important patient data from the Essentris EMR system at their hospital. From anywhere, the healthcare professional can view the crucial data on their mobile device and effectively engage in and guide appropriate onsite interventions. This solution is distinctive from other offerings to date in that the fetal tracings displayed include important annotation notes and it permits the remote user to write new annotations to the patient record using the mobile device.
"We have a long working partnership with CliniComp in delivering quality medical technology solutions for our physicians and clinicians," added Siva. "We look forward to CliniComp's support as we complete our systemwide implementation of this key medical technology."
CliniComp also noted that DCHS contracted and completed inclusion of Essentris at its fourth and final perinatal site, St. Francis Medical Center, resulting in a systemwide adoption of Essentris technology.
