Clinical Services of Rhode Island CEO Raising Awareness for National Recovery Month
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Sept. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- After over 30 years in personal recovery, Peter Letendre, CEO of Clinical Services of Rhode Island (CSRI), knows firsthand the significance of recovery month for the thousands of Americans who suffer from substance addiction. Letendre and the CSRI team are participating in key National Recovery Month events throughout Rhode Island.
"It takes a village to help someone recover from this illness," said Letendre. "It is critical that family members and friends provide their support to the recovering person. CSRI is honored to be able to take part and help in any way we can. Events are a great way to bring the community together to raise awareness, reduce stigma and spread the message of hope for those suffering from substance use disorders."
This past week, Letendre served as a main speaker for the Rian Pelletier Memorial event and spoke at the Rally4Recovery on Aquidneck Island, recognizing three individuals for their outstanding work in behavioral and mental health care:
- Denise Medeiros, deputy chief investigator, Pre-Trial Services Unit, Newport, RI, received the Advocacy Award
- Jon Brett, PhD, program director, Behavioral Health Unit, Newport Hospital, received the Lifetime Achievement Award
- Lori Dorsey, senior public health promotion specialist, RI Department of Behavioral Health, received the Lifetime Achievement Award
On September 16, CSRI will be participating in the Providence Rally from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. September 30 will be the last Rally4Recovery of 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on either event, please visit Rally4Recovery.com. "Recovery Month is great for recognition of this disease but CSRI is committed to addiction treatment and recovery year-round," said Letendre. "We are on the frontlines making sure people get access to care with outpatient centers and weekly family programs that are open to the public for individuals who have questions or need help getting their loved one into treatment."
