Clinical Care Options Announces Handheld Applications for the CCO inPractice™ Suite of Point-of-Care Online Resources
RESTON, Va., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clinical Care Options (CCO), a leader in next-generation medical education, information, and publishing for healthcare professionals, today announced the release of handheld versions of its point-of-care digital textbook, CCO inPractice™. The release includes 2 iPad apps, 2 iPhone apps, and a mobile Web site that now provide HIV treaters, hematologists, and oncologists immediate access to the answers they need to provide optimal care for their patients.
"We are excited to make CCO inPractice more widely available at the point of care," said Jeffrey L. Drezner, MD, PhD, CCO's Chief Executive Officer and Founder. "Hundreds of thousands of our clinician members around the world will benefit from this immediate access to state-of-the-art treatment information."
Through your online handheld device, CCO inPractice delivers all of the primary resources of the Web site including original textbooks written by expert authors as well as integrated drug lookups, PubMed abstracts, and links to management guidelines. Even when offline, users of the iPad/iPhone apps have access to the expert information provided by the continually updated textbooks as well as the drug database information and PubMed abstracts.
"Providing handheld access to CCO inPractice is a monumental step in delivering much needed data to clinicians at the point of care," said Ramaswamy Govindan, MD, Editor in Chief of the hematology/oncology digital textbook. "The 1-stop nature of CCO inPractice makes it an essential resource in the clinic, at the bedside, and while on call, which is now made easier with handheld devices."
In a survey of CCO inPractice users, more than 80% of respondents, including 100% of US-based physicians, reported that they would be likely to use the program via handheld device and identified all of the integrated resources as very useful at the point of care.
"This is the next logical step in keeping healthcare providers current on the latest data and expert opinions," said Kathleen E. Squires, MD, one of the Editors in Chief of CCO HIV inPractice. "Treaters will have easier access to essential information and support for providing improved patient care."
The mobile Web site is free to access and a special promotion currently offers a free 3-month trial of the iPad and iPhone apps. More information about handheld access to CCO inPractice is available at inPractice.com/handheld.
