Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Cleveland (CTSC) Chooses Elsevier's SciVal Experts
AMSTERDAM, October 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Enhancing CTSC Researchers' ability to develop local research collaborations and connections with the Global Collaborative Network
Elsevier, a world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced that the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Cleveland (CTSC) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has launched their SciVal Experts community. SciVal Experts is Elsevier's networking tool designed to foster collaboration between investigators and promote multi-disciplinary clinical and translational research.
SciVal Experts will provide CTSC institutions with access to a constantly evolving database of faculty and researcher profiles. The researcher profiles identify and compile researchers' areas of expertise and position alongside a searchable list of researchers' current publication data and grant information. This aggregated information provides users with valuable intelligence to engage in knowledge transfer and to identify opportunities for research collaboration.
CTSC's SciVal Experts implementation will enable researchers to locate sources of expertise and identify collaboration opportunities at an individual and/or departmental level across CTSC institutions and throughout the SciVal Experts research community of more than 20 research institutions nationwide. This new collaborative technology will provide stakeholders and potential partners from academia, government, media and industry with easy access to view and engage CTSC researchers working on relevant projects.
"We see this cooperation as a valuable opportunity for Cleveland-area research institutions to increase the outcomes of their research processes," said Niels Weertman, Vice President, SciVal at Elsevier, "Collaboration is key in scientific research and providing access to like minds and expertise is a crucial resource to research professionals. We are proud to provide such a service and help advance the research community in Cleveland."
Cleveland area research institutions in this SciVal Experts implementation include: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Systems, University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. SciVal Experts will serve a key role in supporting the CTSC's mission to accelerate discoveries toward better health.
