"Climb The Hill For Recovery" Event To Advocate For 5.7 Million Americans With Bipolar Disorder
WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF) announced today that the organization will host the U.S. event and breakfast, "Climb the Hill for Recovery", on October 9, 2015 in support of 5.7 million Americans with bipolar disorder. This free event celebrates leaders in the U.S. mental health community and explores important topics on political and scientific agendas affecting the bipolar community. The breakfast culminates IBPF's partnership in the 2015 Mental Health Awareness Week and Hill Day held each year in D.C.
The brief morning agenda features legislative and celebrity speakers, mental health advocates and commentators. Congressman Tim Murphy, of Pennsylvania, the author of the bi-partisan H.R Bill 2646 -- Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act of 2015 will be a featured honoree. Others honored include: Carlos Zarate, M.D, of the neurobiology and treatment of mood disorders section at the National Institute of Mental Health; Pete Earley, former Washington Post reporter, advocate and author on mental health and the criminal justice system; and Keith O'Neil, Super Bowl Champion linebacker and chairman of the 4th and Forever Foundation who will share his personal experience with bipolar disorder.
