SEATTLE, May 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --ClearSign Combustion Corporation (NASDAQ: CLIR), announced today that it hosted a demonstration event for Duplex Technology at its Seattle facility for members of the American Petroleum Institute, concurrent with the API Spring Refining and Equipment Standards Meeting. In attendance were 18 executives, representing many of the major petroleum refining and petrochemical companies in the US, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
At the demonstration, the API members had the opportunity to observe ClearSign's Duplex Technology in operation and ask technical questions of our engineering staff. Attendees' reactions were very positive and they demonstrated significant knowledge of how the technology operates both in theory and in current field demonstrations. Follow-up meetings have been scheduled to discuss the application of Duplex Technology to address heater and combustion emissions and efficiency improvements in their operations.
Commenting on what he saw at the demonstration, Jacques Dugué, Fired Equipment Adviser for France's Total Refining and Chemicals division and former President of the International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF) said, "A common operational challenge our industry faces is flame impingement - when unruly flames come in contact with the shock tubes in a refinery heater. This problem may be particularly acute on heaters that were significantly debottlenecked over the years. ClearSign's Duplex Technology shows tremendous potential to eliminate this problem. In regions facing a single-digit PPM NOx limit, Duplex Technology may also help achieve a short flame length and the NOx requirement without the need for Selective Catalytic Reduction. I will be watching with interest ClearSign's upcoming field demonstrations in California and look forward to the possibility of implementing this technology more broadly."
Steve Pirnat, ClearSign Chairman and CEO commented, "We were honored that so many leaders in the refining industry chose to visit us to learn more about the benefits of Duplex Technology for their operations. This strong interest reinforces the feedback we have been receiving from industry about the global potential for ClearSign's technology."
The American Petroleum Institute hosts events that are dedicated to standards development and are hosts to some of the most knowledgeable minds in the industry, who come from around the world to discuss issues that are important to both them and their companies.
