JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Clearsense, whose learning data ecosystem removes the barriers created by data silos and closed platforms in order to help healthcare providers improve outcomes, today announced its subscription-based solutions will serve as the data ecosystem and data science foundation for Meharry Medical College.
"In a healthcare industry focused on value-based care and the need for improved, sustained outcomes, possessing medical knowledge and having access to patient health data isn't enough," said Amy M. Andrade, associate vice president of research at Meharry Medical College. "The Clearsense data ecosystem will provide the opportunity to bring in large amounts of data and information from many disparate sources and make it relevant at (or prior to) the point of action, ultimately helping to improve health outcomes."
The Clearsense activation encompasses the entirety of Clearsense's subscription-based solutions. As students develop groundbreaking analytics applications on the Clearsense platform, the agreement gives Clearsense and Meharry Medical College the opportunity to transition the best of them to the commercial market. In addition, Clearsense and Meharry Medical College have agreed to evaluate the potential of executing a separate agreement to use the Clearsense data ecosystem and the company's data science expertise to address non-healthcare-related academic challenges. This initiative will employ the same concept of making big data small and relevant at the point of action.
Makes analytics more powerful and easier to use
While the concept behind using data to drive better outcomes in healthcare is on-point, applying it in the real world has proved hugely challenging. The capturing of data in different formats, the proliferation of difficult-to-use unstructured data, issues with storage, accessibility and compatibility have all conspired to create a huge gulf between aspirations and delivery.
Clearsense is overcoming these and other issues with a suite of solutions designed for real-world data environments that provide greater value at the point of action by:
- Enabling organizations such as Meharry Medical College to use any and all data, whether structured or unstructured, creating a 360 degree view of patients and populations
- Creating faster paths to insights through the data ecosystem's ability to aggregate and analyze complex, high-volume data transactions
- Offering unlimited storage and data processing through cloud-based, highly secure, HIPAA-compliant solutions
- Providing a subscription-based model that eliminates up-front hardware and ongoing maintenance costs, helping healthcare organizations get up to speed quickly
- Delivering streaming analytics in real time to drive powerful healthcare insights while eliminating latency issues
"Meharry Medical College has a long tradition of excellence and innovation in medical education, and we are proud that Clearsense has become a part of it," said Christopher Rogowski, president of Clearsense. "Over the last four months of conversations we have experienced first-hand the commitment the college has to helping its students and faculty take a leadership role in advancing the use of data at the point of action in the healthcare community. Being selected to deliver the ecosystem in which all of its data and analytics reside is an outstanding validation of the quality and effectiveness of our solution, and bodes well for our collective futures."
