WASHINGTON, June 30, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ClearPath Action Fund is endorsing two conservative clean energy champions from New York, Reps. Tom Reed and Elise Stefanik.
"Tom and Elise are independent leaders who work across the aisle to enable the development of clean energy, which creates jobs and lowers costs," ClearPath Action Fund Founder and CEO Jay Faison said. "Their continued leadership is critical to ensuring that we move ahead with a sensible, affordable and diverse set of existing power sources, as well as make the necessary investments to foster innovation that will create the next generation of clean energy power."
ClearPath Action Fund will tout their achievements starting soon with cutting-edge, six-figure digital media campaigns. Those campaigns, which will be run by Anthro, will include buys on many digital networks, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, YouTube and 4info. It will leverage a sophisticated microtargeting and test design strategy to segment persuadable clean energy voters by state and district.
Larger six-figure digital campaigns will begin today respectively touting the clean energy records of ClearPath Action Fund's initial congressional endorsements, Sens. Rob Portman and Kelly Ayotte. In addition to the 15-second and 30-second ads spotlighting Portman and Ayotte, voters will be driven to RobForCleanEnergy.com and KellyForCleanEnergy.com to further learn about their clean energy accomplishments.
And just Tuesday, ClearPath Action Fund issued its first U.S. House endorsement to Rep. Carlos Curbelo in Florida's 26th congressional district.
"Over the past couple of years, I've spent a lot of time in Washington, DC and have met real leaders who understand our energy challenges and are tackling them head on," Faison said. "I'm proud to shine a particular spotlight on all of these leaders with our first congressional endorsements. And with the rollout of our digital campaign, we will continue to shine that bright light on their records advocating for real solutions and clean energy principles based on free markets, smaller government, careful cost-benefit analysis, conservation and most of all, American innovation."
ClearPath Action Fund and ClearPath Action, a 501(c)(4), plan to spend $5 million this election cycle promoting a select group of conservative clean energy leaders.
Among Reed's notable actions:
- Sponsored the bipartisan POWER Act, which would encourage businesses to convert "waste heat" into electricity
- Detailed a broad energy plan, including hydro, solar, wind, natural gas and geothermal
- Sponsored the bipartisan Technologies for Energy Security Act to extend and in some cases to phase out credits for residential energy efficient and a suite of advanced energy properties.
- Supporter of Rep. Chris Gibson's resolution acknowledging "the consequences of a changing climate" and citing the responsibility of Congress to identify and support "economically viable, and broadly supported private and public solutions."
Stefanik quickly in her first congressional term has showcased her independence in staunchly defending her district's Fort Drum biomass plant, including taking a stand against an amendment that would undermine alternative energy used by the military. "Unfortunately, this amendment would impede military facilities, like Drum, from continuing to pursue energy solutions that enhance national security, training capabilities, and operational flexibility," she said on the House floor this spring. "Providing our military with resilient energy ensures our service members remain able to respond to any threats at any time. DOD's use of alternative energy strengthens their ability to conduct combative operations, humanitarian response, and protects our national security."
She is also a co-sponsor of the POWER Act and one of the original backers of Gibson's climate resolution.
Both Reed and Stefanik have also supported increased funding for the Energy Department's advanced energy research program, known as ARPA-E, which is designed to unlock industry-changing technologies and create the next-generation of energy jobs. And they are members of the House Energy, Innovation, and Environment Working Group.
