WASHINGTON, Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ClearPath Action Fund is endorsing Rep. John Katko, adding the New Yorker as the 13th member of the organization's list of 2016 Republican clean energy leaders.
"Rep. Katko is a reliable defender of a robust nuclear power sector and energy innovation research," ClearPath Action Fund Founder and CEO Jay Faison said. "He is a serious new voice in a House GOP caucus that we hope will go on the offense in advancing conservative clean energy."
Katko has fought to keep his district's Fitzpatrick nuclear plant open and preserve the capacity to power 800,000 homes with carbon-free electricity. His district also houses the 600-MW Ginna nuclear plant.
He has backed increased funding for innovative energy research, including the Department of Energy's ARPA-E advanced energy program.
In recognizing that the U.S. cannot act alone to reduce carbon emissions and be subjected to isolated restrictions, Katko supports policies to make energy more affordable and clean. He has also joined fellow House Republicans in signing a resolution calling on Congress to identify and support "economically viable, and broadly supported private and public solutions" to climate change.
ClearPath Action Fund will tout Katko in a six-figure campaign run by Anthro and featured on many digital networks, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, SpotX and 4info. The innovative campaign will leverage a sophisticated microtargeting strategy to identify persuadable clean energy voters. The extent of the campaign will be based on identifying the most cost-efficient means of impacting these voters by determining the cost-per-vote through a test-design methodology.
