LAKE TAHOE, Nev., April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Creek Tahoe announced today that Jim Kidd is joining the Club as General Manager and Director of Golf. A Coore & Crenshaw masterpiece, Clear Creek is a private golf club and emerging community nestled on the saddle just off Lake Tahoe's unspoiled eastern shore. Kidd is charged with operational oversight of all aspects of the Club, from membership and wellness to all the other facets of the Clear Creek experience. No stranger to Coore & Crenshaw courses, Kidd will most importantly elevate the golf program at Clear Creek Tahoe.
Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw have become one of the best-known golf course design teams in the current age, with 10 courses on Golfweek's Top 100 Modern Course list. They have brought their mastery to Clear Creek, where the golf course is set into the natural lay of the land, winding through stands of towering Jeffrey Pines, rugged rock outcroppings and mountain meadows. Bill Coore says of the course: "There is no substitute for a spectacular natural setting. This is a very surprising piece of property – an area of great contours, elevation changes, vistas. And it's walkable! It's a mountain golf course, but it doesn't feel that way. We hope every round includes some of that spirit we felt when we first came here." To date, Clear Creek remains Coore & Crenshaw's only true mountain course, intimate and private, understated and responsible, at the same time reflective of the enduring Tahoe spirit.
The Coore & Crenshaw influence permeates Clear Creek beyond the course itself to the personnel that care for it. Golf Course Superintendent Mike Cuniff hails from Old Sandwich (ranked #17), and Jim Kidd has fostered his career at Coore & Crenshaw courses, starting in 1995 at Sand Hills (ranked #1), where he oversaw the opening of the Club as its Director of Golf, before moving on to Friar's Head on Long Island, NY (ranked #3).
Jim Kidd grew up in a rich golf tradition. His grandfather William (Willie) H. Kidd brought his Scottish golf heritage to the United States, eventually becoming Head Pro at Interlachen Country Club in Minneapolis, a position later held for decades by his son, William, Jr., Jim Kidd's father. Jim was an All American golfer at Sam Houston State University, and has molded his career around the industry in which he was raised.
As Clear Creek gears up for the opening of the new season on May 1, and prepares to break ground this summer on the Clubhouse and other amenities, Kidd's knowledge and experience will be central to the Club's evolution as a community. He says, "I am thrilled to be able to help shape the experience at this special place. All the pieces are here – an exceptional golf course, understated but elegant plans for the clubhouse and health and wellness facilities, a perfect location that is both private and close to necessary services. Clear Creek has an exciting future just ahead, and I am excited to be part of it."
The Clear Creek Tahoe community will feature a state-of-the-art wellness and spa component, and will be built within an ongoing commitment to conservation and sustainability. Real estate offerings will debut as infrastructure is completed later in 2016.
