Clear Ballot Voting System ClearVote Brings Increased Efficiency to Oregon Primary Election
County Clerks express effusive praise for Clear Ballot's ClearVote voting system successfully used in May 17th Primary Election in Oregon Counties of Multnomah, Josephine, Linn, Harney, Washington, Klamath and Coos.
BOSTON, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Election jurisdictions across Oregon successfully conducted their Primary Elections using Clear Ballot's ClearVote voting system, improving the speed and efficiency in their election process. Over half a million ballots were tallied using ClearVote, 43% of nearly 1.2 million Primary Election ballots in Oregon.
ClearVote was initially certified for use in the state of Oregon in May 2015. Enhancements to the voting system were subsequently certified in September 2015, and a third version was certified in March 2016 providing Oregon counties with continuous upgrades by incorporating customer feedback into product development.
The ClearVote voting system provides Oregon election officials with an easy and intuitive ballot layout process, a tabulation and reporting system that scans ballots with commercial off-the-shelf scanners and gives election officials a complete digital database of the election that includes visual verification of all votes reducing ballot handling and providing election officials with a more efficient process.
Harney County Clerk, Dag Robinson has been thrilled with the support and write-in capabilities of ClearVote, "During this election, after scanning the ballots, it was determined that for a few of the positions there were more write-ins than for the candidates on the ballot. Clear Ballot made finding those write-ins easy, with the click of a button." The ClearVote system digitally sorts write-ins removing all manual processes, saving time and money. Dag said, "Without Clear Ballot, election staff would have had to hand sort through thousands of ballots, numerous times in order to locate all of the write-ins for those particular positions. An incredible time and cost saver for Harney County election staff."
Coos County Clerk, Terri Turi said she was very pleased with the performance of the new system, she said, "This was the best election experience I've EVER had in over seventeen years as County Clerk."
Linda Smith, Klamath County Clerk was also happy with her new Clear Ballot system, "Change is hard, and I was reluctant to make a change prior to a Presidential Primary Election. However, our election boards were amazed with our new Clear Ballot voting system." She was also impressed with the efficiency in the process, "We were able to streamline our processes and make the jobs of our election boards much easier. We are excited to head to the General Election in November with the Clear Ballot system, which we have found to be very user and observer friendly. We love it!"
Clear Ballot is enthusiastic about a successful deployment in the Oregon Primary Election with ClearVote, "We are extremely proud of our Oregon customers and the way our ClearVote system performed during the primary election," said Larry Moore, CEO of Clear Ballot. "We've heard about overwhelming improvements in efficiency, speed and overall performance from our customers not to mention they all saved time and money which is so important in today's climate where government officials need to do more with less. We look forward to many more successful elections in Oregon."
