CleanSpark, Webcor Builders Announce Strategic Partnership
Partnership offers cost-effective, bankable advanced microgrid solutions
SAN DIEGO, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Driven by a shared commitment to energy independence, San Diego-based CleanSpark and San Francisco-based Webcor Builders have partnered to offer the world's first cost-effective, bankable, and commercially available advanced microgrid systems. These systems empower communities to achieve true energy independence, by ending their reliance on an overpriced, outdated, and overburdened power grid.
CleanSpark's proprietary software platform facilitates energy independence by enabling customers to integrate renewable generation and advanced storage technologies into their existing energy infrastructure to create a microgrid that can seamlessly interoperate with the utility. Customers are able to choose when to buy power from the utility, when to sell power to the utility, and when to "island" themselves from the traditional grid, allowing the systems to quickly pay for themselves as they achieve lower costs for the customer. This technology leverages artificial intelligence to predict and optimize energy use, and automates load management in one simple, elegant, and user-friendly platform.
Until now, microgrid systems were too expensive to build and operate, and financing models did not exist. CleanSpark-Webcor's partnership addresses both of these issues by offering guaranteed performance for a minimum of ten years, and 100% system financing options for terms of up to 25 years. This financing structure makes building and installing advanced microgrid systems both feasible and attractive, especially to multifamily residential, commercial, municipal, educational, industrial, and defense sectors, as well as those living off the grid in remote rural areas or on islands.
The U.S. microgrid market is projected to increase almost 300% over the next five years, from $225M in 2016, to almost $1 billion in 2020. The CleanSpark-Webcor partnership will facilitate domestic microgrid adoption, as U.S. customers leverage CleanSpark's technology to increase energy independence, improve energy security, lower their energy costs, and reduce carbon emissions.
