SHANGHAI, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In recent years, the rapid development of China's economy has not only improved people's quality of life on a grand scale, but has also led to a massive boom in domestic tourism. People are now looking to explore the country and see all its famous mountains and rivers, as well as appreciate the local conditions and customs of its ethnic groups. Internationally, with the strengthening of China's image and various international events successfully being held in China, overseas businesses are also showing strong interest in engaging in business travel activities in China. All these changes have brought about a golden opportunity for China's hotel industry. It is estimated that by the year 2015, 20,000 accommodation facilities of all kinds will be built all over China, among which there will be around 10,000 star-rated hotels (five-star hotels will number more than 500).

At the same time, the recession in the global economy has raised challenges for the hotel industry in China. People are starting to care more about health and hygiene. And so, there are now higher expectations in regards to hotel sanitary conditions. The Best Western Hotel Group indicates that hygiene is the first matter of concern for chain hotels. Critic Zhao Huan Yan also thinks that safety and health hygiene must be on the top of the priority list for the hotel industry. On the other hand, given the state of the economy, consumers would like to reduce expenditure and hotel management should try to reduce costs as much as possible and increase profit. This gives hotels a dilemma. Taking the economic environment and consumer behaviour into account, an effective cleaning solution is the answer to the question. The Shanghai Tourism Industry Association Secretary-General for this branch of industry, Qiu Yong Jiang, pointed out: "Improving quality and reducing expenditure is not contradictory, the key is to advocate clean ideas and efficient advanced cleaning solutions."
The China Clean Expo 2013, organised by UBM Sinoexpo, and scheduled to take place on 1-3 April 2013, will act as a one-stop trading platform showcasing cleaning equipment, cleaning tools and cleaning chemicals for the hotel industry while also covering a series of products ranging from disinfectants and toilet products to dustproof materials and more. The concurrently held HOTELEX Shanghai will display catering equipment, table wares, security defence equipment and other kinds of hotel products. The mega show is expected to cover a total exhibition area of 400,000 square metres and attract 2800 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors.
In an attempt to contribute to problem-solving in the hotel industry, the organiser of the China Clean Expo will also work with related associations, media and the exhibitors to create a series of onsite conferences during the three-day event. These will include hotel cleaning, laundry, indoor environment quality, food hygiene, etc.
