Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. Emission Control System Receives Expanded Verification by EPA and CARB
Expanded Product Line Addresses Government Emission Reduction Mandates for Fleet Operators
VENTURA, Calif., Oct. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:CDTI) ("Clean Diesel"), a cleantech emissions reduction company, is pleased to announce that Engine Control Systems (ECS), its Heavy Duty Diesel Systems' wholly-owned subsidiary, has received an expanded verification from both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its innovative Purifilter® Plus diesel particulate filter (DPF) emissions reduction system. Clean Diesel believes that its Purifilter® Plus systems are currently the only hybrid DPF systems employing both passive and active regeneration verified by both the EPA and CARB for use in a wide variety of heavy duty diesel on-road engines. The Purifilter® Plus line of products are ideal in retrofit applications for a wide variety of small and large fleet operators such as school, shuttle and urban buses, municipal, state and utility fleet vehicles, refuse trucks and urban delivery vehicles, which are being required to comply with increasing government-mandated emission reduction requirements.
With this expanded verification, Purifilter® Plus is now approved for use in the retrofitting of 2002 through 2009 model year exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) heavy duty diesel on-road engines manufactured by International Truck and Engine Corporation. Purifilter® Plus, which successfully reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by more than 85 percent and meets 2009 nitrogen dioxide emission limits, combines a passively regenerating ECS Purifilter® DPF with the active regeneration components of an ECS Combifilter®, resulting in a hybrid DPF which has no minimum exhaust temperature requirement — making it efficient under even the most challenging vehicle operating conditions. The system is easily maintained by the user by periodically plugging the system into a regeneration control panel that may be shared between several vehicles. This approach greatly reduces the maintenance requirements when compared to traditional passive DPF solutions.
Charles Call, Chief Executive Officer of Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc., said, "These expanded verifications mark an important achievement for Clean Diesel, further expanding our already broad product portfolio of verified retrofit systems. Our customers can be confident in the capability of Clean Diesel to not only meet stringent EPA and CARB emission regulations, but to achieve these regulations with better performance, lower cost and greater operational simplicity."
Full verification details are available on the EPA website at www.epa.gov and the CARB website at www.arb.ca.gov.
