Clean Diesel Power Delivers Official U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree To Washington, D.C.
"The People's Tree" Stopped in 28 Cities During Three Week Trip to Nation's Capitol
WASHINGTON, Nov. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After a three-week, 28-city tour across the United States, the 73-foot Engelmann Spruce Christmas tree that will be illuminated outside the U.S. Capitol building arrived this morning in Washington, D.C.

"The People's Tree" began its 5,012 mile cross-country journey on November 2nd from the White River National Forest in Colorado en route to the nation's capital. The tree's journey was under the supervision of the U.S. Forest Service.
The tree was transported across the country on a SmartWay-certified, MACK® Pinnacle™ clean diesel truck. The truck was driven by former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell, who represented the State of Colorado which provided the tree.

Official Tree Lighting Ceremony Scheduled for December 4th
The Capitol Christmas Tree has been placed on the west lawn of the Capitol grounds and will now be decorated with 5,000 ornaments made by Colorado school children. It will officially be lit in a ceremony with Speaker of the House John Boehner at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4th. After the lighting ceremony, the tree will be available for public viewing throughout the holiday season. The tree will be lit nightly from dusk until 11 p.m.
