Classical and Rock Legends Alike Show Instrumental Support at 11th Annual Limbs for Life Foundation Benefit Gala and Auction
DALLAS, Feb. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Saturday, Feb. 25, The Limbs for Life Foundation is rockin' and rollin' with their annual fundraising gala, "The Bach to Rock Ball." More than 400 attendees, channeling their favorite musician from all eras, band together for a night of dancing, dining, auctions, casino games and most importantly, fundraising for a very important cause.
All proceeds from the "Bach to Rock Ball" benefit the Limbs for Life Foundation, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fully functional prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it while continuing to raise awareness of the daily challenges facing amputees.
Now in its 11th year, the annual gala has raised more than $3 million, providing limbs for more than 1,500 amputees. And whether attendees' tastes lean toward classical concertos or punk rock, that's music to everyone's ears!
The event begins at 6 p.m. with costume-clad guests enjoying cocktails, a live and silent auction, four-course meal and casino inside Hotel InterContinental Dallas.
The evening also features an inspirational presentation by 34-year-old Limbs for Life recipient Charlie Swearingen. Charlie was born without lower limbs from the knee down and was an amputee at nine months old. However, he didn't let having prosthetic limbs deter him from his goal of becoming a world-class athlete. He's traveled around the globe with the U.S. Men's Sitting Volleyball Team and now has his sights set on achieving one more goal – helping the U.S. take home the Gold Medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England.
The spirited live auction is one of the highlights of the evening, with several exclusive prize packages and offerings up for bid. This year's most notable auction items include:
- Weekend trip for two including round-trip airfare and hotel to New York City to see the much buzzed about "Book of Mormon" musical, dine at famed restaurants Tribeca Grill and Nobu Next Door, and stay in a luxurious Starwood Property;
- A once-in-a-lifetime, 5-day/4-night fly-fishing trip for two to Abaco Island, Bahamas, at a private fishing lodge complete with world-class cuisine and accommodations, 5-star service and top-of-the-line boats, and;
- A designer Michele watch adorned in diamonds, white and rose gold, valued at $2,600.
The 2012 Limbs for Life "Bach to Rock Ball" is co-chaired by Limbs for Life board members Holly and Doug Brooks. Cindy Brinker Simmons, honorary chairwoman for the 2012 benefit, also will be in attendance.
Donations are currently accepted online at www.limbsforlife.org. For more information about the event, please call 888-235-5462. Individual tickets may be purchased for $150 each and sponsorship packages are still available.
