DURHAM, N.C. and PHILADELPHIA, March 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Clarkston Consulting, a leading management and technology consulting firm specializing in the life sciences and consumer products industries, has announced the recipient of the 2015 Clarkston Scholars Program scholarship. The Clarkston Scholars Program was established to recognize highly driven students who excel in the classroom, have a focused interest and passion for life sciences, and intend to enter the industry upon graduation.
Edward Hilton, a Duquesne University sophomore, has been selected as the recipient of this year's scholarship. Edward is pursuing a major in biochemistry and a minor in math and biology. His pain and depression research in the lab of Dr. Benedict Kolber has furthered his interest in the life sciences industry. Edward is a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Lambda Sigma, Alpha Chi Sigma, Student Government, and participates in intramural sports.
"I am extremely grateful for this honor. The scholarship funds will help offset the cost of my current education and allow me to focus on my professional development," stated Edward Hilton upon accepting the scholarship. "I believe that the mentoring aspect of the Clarkston Scholars Program will afford a wonderful opportunity to gain further insight into this industry."
Mr. Hilton was selected from a talented pool of university students throughout the state of Pennsylvania. In addition to the $10,000 scholarship, he will receive exposure to the life sciences industry through mentoring with Clarkston Consulting and participation in Pennsylvania Bio events over the next two years. Edward was honored at Pennsylvania Bio's Annual Dinner and Awards Celebration on March 12, 2015.
"We are proud to continue our support of the Clarkston Scholars program and the future leaders of our industry," said Christopher P. Molineaux, President & CEO of Pennsylvania Bio.
Consulting Partner and Life Sciences Practice Leader Janel Firestein affirmed the importance of supporting students interested in the life sciences industry: "We are pleased to once again award the Clarkston Scholarship to a talented Pennsylvania undergraduate. We congratulate Edward, and look forward to the contributions that he, and future Clarkston Scholars, will make to the Pennsylvania life sciences industry."
