MIAMI, March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Headed by Spaniard journalist David Beriain, CLANDESTINO returns to Discovery en Español with exclusive access to the world's most hermetic criminal organizations. The new season of the fan favorite series will take viewers deep into the criminal underworld of the Venezuelan kidnapping industry, the Italian Mob, the Albanian Mafia, the illegal weapons trafficking business, and the Colombian narcos. CLANDESTINO premieres March 31 at 9pm E/P.
The first episode of CLANDESTINO offers a real and up-close portrait of arms trafficking from the United States sold to criminal groups in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Colombia. In order to reach the heart of the organization, Beriain develops a unique connection with the top players through a strong trusting bond that result in first hand shocking human stories never seen before in television. Thousands of legally acquired weapons cross the border each month to arm dangerous guerrilla and paramilitary crime organizations in Latin America. An extraordinary unprecedented access allows CLANDESTINO to keep track of these weapons that originate their journey in the north and end up in bloody war conflicts killing their neighbors in the south.
Beriain continues his research in Venezuela to access to the criminal underworld of the kidnapping industry. Face-to-face interviews with kidnappers reveal details of how they operate and the insights of their illegal business. Beriain interviews surviving victims and shows how Venezuelans currently train to face abductions, patrols the streets with authorities, and gets testimonies from police officers involved in the kidnapping of civilians.
The new season also reveals the day to day operations of other criminal groups in Europe, including the Italian "Baby Camorra", led by descendants of old mafia bosses, and the Albanian Mafia, one of the world's most hermetic criminal organizations that still maintains ancestral codes of honor and revenge.
