BROOMFIELD, Colo., May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CivilianJobs.com, where America's military connects with civilian careers, recently announced Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) is a winner of the Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military®. Marking the sixth year of its publication in 2014, the MVE recognition serves to help military-experienced job seekers and veterans identify the top employers to target for civilian careers.
"Veterans are an important part of Level 3's workforce, as they possess a unique blend of leadership qualities, integrity and commitment that perfectly aligns with our core values," said Laurinda Pang, chief human resources officer at Level 3. "We are honored to be recognized as a Most Valuable Employer for Military, and look forward to celebrating our dedicated veteran community on Armed Forces Day."
Level 3 actively seeks to hire military talent, recruiting at military job fairs and bases across the country. Level 3 also runs an on-the-job training program for entry-level employees. Referred to as Ops Tech Academy, the unique program has given many veteran employees the tools they need to build a career in operations. Level 3 employs nearly 750 veterans, many of whom support its Government Markets Group's federal government agency customers.
In May, Level 3 will host two informational events for veterans:
- On May 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Level 3 will partner with Colorado Workforce for an open house at its Broomfield, Colo., campus. Veterans who are interested in learning more about a career at Level 3 and its Ops Tech Academy, should register through Workforce.
- On May 29, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Level 3 will host a military hiring fair for its June Ops Tech Academy class. Interested participants should visit, www.level3.com/careers for more information.
"There are two groups of winners today. First are the employers who are being recognized as MVEs," said Sandra (Sandy) Morris, CEO, Bradley-Morris, Inc., parent company of CivilianJobs.com. "They are winning by hiring high-value military-experienced employees who are helping move their respective businesses forward. But military job seekers are also winners. CivilianJobs.com acknowledged a record number of companies as MVEs this year and I am so excited to see the pool of career opportunities expand for veterans."
The 2014 Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military was open to all U.S.-based companies. The winners were selected based on surveys in which employers outlined their recruiting, training and retention plans that best serve military service members and veterans. In addition to being recognized in the May issue of Military Transition News, CivilianJobs.com's world-wide military base newspaper, winning employers will also be displayed on the CivilianJobs.com website.
