City of Hope Announces New Spanish-language Campaign Designed to Connect with and Serve the Hispanic Community
Outreach features City of Hope Spanish-speaking doctors and scientists at the forefront of world-class cancer research, lifesaving treatments and compassionate patient care
DUARTE, Calif., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, City of Hope has launched an integrated Spanish-language marketing and outreach campaign designed to connect with and serve Hispanic families throughout Southern California. The comprehensive campaign features Spanish-speaking City of Hope doctors and scientists who are positively impacting the lives of cancer patients and their families with breakthrough cancer research and treatments, combined with compassionate care. Airing across multiple media platforms, the Spanish-language messaging will draw attention to City of Hope's commitment to meeting the needs of the Hispanic community.
"City of Hope believes it's critically important that Hispanic patients know that there is a world-class research and cancer treatment center in their community," said Alex Herrera, M.D., assistant professor in City of Hope's Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation. "One of my goals as a physician and that of our team is to communicate to our community that we are here to serve and support them. We want all families to know about and access our innovative cancer treatments."
It is estimated that cancer is the leading cause of death among U.S. Hispanics, with more than 22 percent of total deaths in 2012 being cancer-related. According to the most recent cancer figures in the U.S., about one in three Hispanics will be diagnosed with cancer in his or her lifetime. The American Cancer Society also estimates that one in five Hispanic men and one in six Hispanic women will die from cancer.
"City of Hope is known for its rapid translation of scientific research into new treatments and cures," added Herrera. "We want every member in our community to have access to the level of care that City of Hope provides. This Spanish-language campaign is an extension of our lifesaving work because it will ensure that no patient is left behind."
The campaign includes Spanish-language TV, radio, digital and outdoor advertising. To learn more about City of Hope's new Spanish-language campaign, please visit CityofHope.org/espanol. For more information on City of Hope, visit CityofHope.org.
