City of Fort Worth Partners with Employer Direct Healthcare to Offer Members New Supplemental Benefit SurgeryPlus®
FORT WORTH, Texas, Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Fort Worth (the "City") is pleased to announce the expansion of its member healthcare coverage offering starting January 2017 through Employer Direct Healthcare's SurgeryPlus®, a supplemental benefit for non-emergent surgeries that provides higher quality care, a better experience and lower costs.
The City always looks for ways to enhance and support the work lives of its dedicated employees. With civil servants such as its dedicated police officers and firemen protecting and serving the Fort Worth community, it's of top priority for the City to ensure their employees and covered family members have access to the highest quality of care, while also identifying opportunities to drive cost savings for taxpayers and members.
Through SurgeryPlus, over 14,000 City members will have access to an elite, high-performance Surgeons of Excellence network that includes top quality, 100 percent board-certified providers. Providers in the SurgeryPlus network have been rigorously screened, significantly reducing the risk of surgical complications. The City recognizes the valuable role each employee plays in maintaining the Fort Worth community and has partnered with SurgeryPlus to provide their members with the safest surgical choices.
SurgeryPlus also allows for substantial savings, both for members and the City, through pre-negotiated and discounted bundled rates. By packaging surgical expenses, SurgeryPlus reduces members' financial stress and burden from unexpected medical bills. Members will only need to meet their deductible; all other surgical costs are covered, potentially saving members thousands of dollars.
In addition with SurgeryPlus, the patient's procedure experience is less stressful and complicated. Members are provided with access to dedicated Care Coordinators, who educate members on their SurgeryPlus benefit and make their medical experience simple by managing all scheduling, logistics and transferring of medical records on behalf of the City's members.
"We are very focused on serving the employees of the City and their families in all of their healthcare needs. With SurgeryPlus, we believe we can provide top quality care, a positive experience and reduce costs, to both our taxpayers and members. SurgeryPlus is a disruptive innovator in the benefits space, and we are excited about our partnership with them," said Brian Dickerson, HR and Civil Service Director for the City of Fort Worth.
