City of Cleveland, Ohio Selects Elster Water Meters

RALEIGH, N.C., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Elster (NYSE: ELT) announced today that the City of Cleveland, Ohio Division of Water has selected Elster AMCO Water C700 meters as part of its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) project. The Cleveland Division of Water plans to begin installation of the Elster water meters in the third quarter of 2011, completing the project in 2013.

The City of Cleveland will install 100,000 C700 meters and utilize retrofit kits for 51,000 existing Elster meters in its service area, expanding the City's relationship with Elster. Elster's C700 meters were selected for their unparalleled performance, accuracy and ability to seamlessly integrate with the utility's planned AMI installation. The City of Cleveland awarded Elster a significant portion of its AMI project contract.

The C700 meters use an advanced positive displacement design engineered for dependability and longevity. Equipped with Elster AMCO Water InVISION™ absolute encoders, the meters can be read by remote electronic data collection devices at lower cost and increased accuracy compared to visual readings. The C700 direct read meters are also compatible with automatic meter reading and other advanced metering capabilities.
