Cities Committed to Marketplace Fairness

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In regards to comments from Capitol Hill regarding Marketplace Fairness, Clarence E. Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities (NLC) issued the following statement:

"The National League of Cities remains firm in our belief that remote sales tax legislation is good for local businesses and local communities in America. We also stand firm in our position that these are not new taxes, but taxes that are already owed.

"Marketplace Fairness will support economic development and business on the Main Streets of towns across America by letting them compete fairly with online retailers who do not contribute to local economies. We encourage the House to pass remote sales tax legislation this year."
