Cities Commend House on Passing Flood Insurance Affordability Act

WASHINGTON, March 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following passage of the Flood Insurance Affordability Act (H.R. 3370) by the U.S. House of Representatives earlier today, National League of Cities (NLC) Executive Director Clarence Anthony released the following statement:

"We commend the House for joining the Senate by passing a bill that will help millions of homeowners facing skyrocketing increases in their flood insurance premiums. With the House passage of the Flood Insurance Affordability Act, we are one step closer to protecting cities and their residents from increases mandated by the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012.

"This legislation is critically important because it helps to ensure that flood insurance rate increases do not adversely impact local communities while at the same time keeping the National Flood Insurance Program solvent.
