Citibank Announces Renewed Support of TeletonUSA to Help Children With Disabilities, Cancer and Autism in the U.S.

NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Citibank (NYSE: C) announced today it will again support TeletonUSA and its mission of providing aid to children with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities, cancer and autism in the United States. Citibank has supported the charity since its U.S. inception in 2012, and has helped the organization raise $2.4 million, including more than 500,000 in direct contributions from the bank. Citibank's support of TeletonUSA builds on Banamex's long history of serving as the Bank of Teleton in Mexico. Donations can be made at Citibank branches, online or by phone.

The 30-hour, televised event is a major driver of donations and will take place Friday, December 12th at 9:00 PM EST through Sunday, December 14th at 2:00 AM EST, during which time viewers will be invited to make donations. Citibank customers and non-customers can help the TeletonUSA cause by submitting a cash or check donation at any Citibank branch nationwide now through December 31, 2014.

The money raised by TeletonUSA in 2012 and 2013 funded in full the construction of the Children's Rehabilitation Institute of TeletonUSA (CRIT USA), a nonprofit pediatric outpatient rehabilitation facility in San Antonio, Texas for children ages 18 and under with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities. The state-of-the-art facility, which opened in October 2014, treats patients from San Antonio as well as patients from across the United States. In its first week alone, families from 27 different states across the country enrolled at CRIT USA.

TeletonUSA is aligned with Teleton Mexico, which has built 21 Children's Rehabilitation Centers, an Autism Center and a Children´s Cancer Hospital, all currently serving more than 90,000 patients. Teleton Mexico is the only rehabilitation system in the world with 19 Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certified centers, with more than 2,500 staff members and more 3,000 volunteers.
