CITI Shares Spotlight at January Launch of State Department's PPMCoP
WASHINGTON, Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Creative Information Technology, Inc. (CITI) today announced that one of its leading software engineers will present at the formal launch of the U.S. Department of State's (DOS) Program and Project Management Community of Practice (PPMCoP). The event will be held at the Loy Henderson Auditorium in Main State (Harry S. Truman or HST Building), on January 16, 2013.
CITI Software Engineer George Haney, in partnership with the DOS PPMCoP, will be one of the leading presenters. The Keynote of the event is entitled "Successful Project Management Practices across the Federal Government," and will be presented by Jonathan Weinstein, President, Line of Sight.
Under Secretary of Management, Patrick F. Kennedy, will speak about the importance of program and project management for the Department. The conference runs from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., on January 16, and is followed by a reception in the State Department's Delegate Lounge from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The mission of the State Department's new PPMCoP is to advance a practical understanding of program and project management at the Department, and to provide guidance for members as to how to gain added knowledge and skills, promote industry standards, and facilitate best practices. The group emerged through the collaborative efforts of several individuals within both organizations (DOS and CITI), who sought to align DOS program management expertise with the first Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR). The QDDR, which was announced by Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2009, provides a blueprint for elevating American "civilian power" to better advance our national interests and to be a better partner to the U.S. military.
"It is very gratifying to see our company's strength in project management getting such attention. It is just another example of our people furthering the success of our customers," announced Sunil Kolhekar, CEO and president of CITI.
