CITGO Marks Fenway's 100-year Anniversary With Great Moments Campaign
Help Recognize Boston's Greatest Baseball Moments Under the CITGO Sign
BOSTON, May 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park, CITGO Petroleum Corporation recently launched "Boston's Greatest Moments Under the Sign 'Good Moments Make Great Memories'" campaign with Sports Radio WEEI 93.7FM/850AM to showcase the most legendary memories that have taken place at the famous ballpark. Each week, baseball fans can submit their greatest memory in the form of a favorite picture from under the CITGO Sign and have the chance to win a $50 CITGO Gift Card.
"CITGO celebrated its 100 year heritage in 2010 so we are proud to welcome Fenway Park into the Centennial Club," said Alan Flagg, general manager of Light Oils Marketing with CITGO. "Together, the CITGO Sign and Fenway Park have helped create wonderful memories for millions of people, and it is exciting to have a forum where fans can share these special moments."
To enter the CITGO contest, participants can submit a photo of their own special memory under the CITGO Sign at www.weei.com/promos/citgo. Each week from now through Oct. 4, a winner will be chosen at random and awarded a $50 CITGO Gift Card. Additionally, winner photos could be featured online at www.weei.com.
Throughout the 2012 season, Red Sox Baseball on the Radio is also featuring the 100 top memories in Fenway's 100-year history presented by CITGO. Legendary milestones include the first official game against the New York Highlanders on April 20, 1912 and the Ted Williams' monster 502-foot homerun on June 9, 1946.
The CITGO Sign has stood high above the Boston skyline since 1965 when it replaced the original Cities Service logo. For decades the sign has illuminated Kenmore Square, inspiring homeruns, marking the last mile of the Boston Marathon and helping pregnant mothers at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital time their contractions.
"We are always humbled by the loyalty that Red Sox fans and Bostonians have for the CITGO Sign," added Flagg. "Serving as a beacon of light in Boston's night sky, we look forward to remaining in Boston's Kenmore Square for many years to come and continuing the great services provided by the nearly 6,000 locally owned and operated CITGO locations across the country."
